CARLSBERG CUP QUARTER. FINALS

Four more slots in the Carlsberg
Cup quarter-finals were decided on Saturday with Mafco, Silver Strikers, Wizards FC and Mangochi Police joining Nyasa Big Bullets in the last eight. Mafco beat Moyale Barracks with a 2-1 at Mzuzu Stadium while Silver Strikers won 4-1 against Zolozolo United at Silver Stadium in Lilongwe. Wizards FC came from behind to claim a Carlsberg Cup quarter-final slot after beating Mzuzu United 3-1 through post match penalties after Blessing Phiri had cancelled Mzuzu United’s Collen Nkhulambe second half opener. In Mzuzu, Stain Malata gave Mafco a lead from a Bernard Harawa corner kick in the 41st minute before Paul Phiri doubled the lead from the spot kick after Boy Boy Chima handball in the box. Moyale got the consolation through Gastin Simkonda from the spot kick penalty just before recess after Vitumbiko Phiri handled the ball in the box. At Silver Stadium Mathews Sibale scored a brace with the other two goals coming from Victor Limbani and Levison Maganiza while Luke Chima scored Zolozolo’s consolation. Mangochi Police become the first non-Super League side to make it to the last eight after beating fellow lower league team Warm Heart Bullets 3-1. Daniel Nkhata scored twice with Wellingtone Bizale scoring the other for Mangochi while Sithole scored the consolation for Bullets. Last round of 16 match between Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks will be played at Kamuzu Stadium this Wednesday. In the quarterfinals, Bullets FC will play against Mafco at Chitowe Stadium; Red Lions will host Silver Strikers at Balaka Stadium with Wizards FC facing Mangochi Police at MDC Stadium. These games will be played this weekend. Prison United will face the winner between Mighty Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks
